Not Sure If You Need a New Transmission or Just a Rebuild?
A transmission mechanic repairs manual and automatic transmissions found in numerous vehicles. Some specialize only with automatic transmissions, and they are usually referred to as an automatic transmission mechanic.
In order to for one to correctly diagnose a repair on a transmission, the mechanic needs to first drive the vehicle, and during this test drive, they will carefully listen to the vehicle’s engine, and monitor its performance, plus feel how the transmission is shifting. If the vehicle is unsafe to drive, the transmission needs to be taken out for diagnosis. To prepare for this, the mechanic needs to lift it using hoists or jacks. After which, with the aid of multiple hand tools, they will remove the transmission.
